Our Story
Apex Manufacturing was founded in 1993 by Frank Kovacs, a journeyman machinist who believed that a relentless focus on precision and reliability could build something lasting. Starting with five CNC machines in a 3,000 square foot shop on Cleveland's west side, Frank took on the jobs other shops wouldn't touch: tight tolerances, exotic materials, impossible deadlines.
Word traveled. By the late 1990s, aerospace primes and medical OEMs began calling. The shop grew, the team grew, and the certifications followed. ISO 9001 came in 1998, AS9100 in 2003, ISO 13485 in 2012.
Today, Apex operates from a purpose-built 185,000 square foot facility with 48 CNC machines, a Class 7 clean room, metal additive manufacturing, and a full surface treatment line. We employ over 200 skilled machinists, engineers, and quality professionals. Frank's original philosophy hasn't changed: measure twice, cut once, and never ship a bad part.
